There are so many different kinds of play, here is one more term to add to your belt of "play knowledge." Heuristic play - playing with real-life, everyday objects and providing kids with an opportunity for open-ended discovery.

It must be noted that as usual the role of the parent is very important in this play. And that role is; sit back, don't disturb and watch them as they enter into this play mode. At times it must be noted that, they are easily distracted by a parent when they pull out a phone to start capturing images. Most children are happy to pose for photographs, and when the see the phone emerge, they are disrupted and leave their state of play.
With the Winter Holidays around the corner, cooler weather, which means more indoor play, there are so many objects around your home that can be used as play things.
